UIC's men defeated Milwaukee to get their first dual meet win of the season Saturday afternoon. Josh Dellorto, Dan Galinski,
Liam Davis, and
Felix Lafortune all won two events to lead the Flames to a 160-140 victory.
A trio of Flames women also won multiple events. Lilly Culp, Kalie Landrum, and Cydney Liebenberg were all double winners, but the Panthers won every other event to claim the team win.
"This is a long season, and our goal is to improve with every meet, event, lap, and dive. That's exactly what we saw today and it was great to see some of our underclassmen step up in their events,"
Tim Loeffler said. "We are excited and already looking to next week."
Event Winners
- Kalie Landrum got her first collegiate win in the 200 free. Later in the meet, she won the 500 free.
- Josh Dellorto was the 200 free and 100 free winner.
- Dan Galinski won the 100 breast and 200 breast.
- Lilly Culp won the 200 fly by a comfortable two and a half seconds. She also took first in the 100 fly.
- Liam Davis was a double winner in the 200 and 100 fly.
- Jeff Wiedoff sprinted fastest in the 50 free.
- Cydney Liebenberg was the 1-meter and 3-meter diving winner.
- Felix Lafortune claimed both men's diving events.
- Owen Zant captured the 200 back.
- Kyle Lewarchick won the 200 IM.
Top Performers
- Victoria Thor was second in the 1000 free and the 500 free.
- Anna Scovill was third in the 100 back.
- Owen Zant came in second in the 100 back.
- Taira Juronis and Sam Malecki were second and third in both the 100 breast and 200 breast.
- Ben Ramminger was second in the 100 breast.
- Kyle Lewarchick was right behind his teammate, finishing second in the 200 fly.
- Cole Tremewan came in second in 1-meter diving, and third in 3-meter.
- Poleena Kovalaske and Bree Moericke were second and third in the 100 free.
- Ashlee Weltyk was the fastest Flame in the 200 back, finishing third.
- Alex Dvorak was second in the 200 breast.
Relays
- Scovill, Juronis, Isabella Del Rosario, and Kovalaske were nipped at the wall and came in second in the 200 medley relay.
- Cory Michalek, Ramminger, Lewarchick, and Wiedoff came in second in the 200 medley relay by 0.03 seconds.
- Landrum, Kovalaske, Moericke, and Beth Kelzer were second in the 400 free relay.
- Dellorto, Michalek, Lewarchick, and Tyler Schwertfeger took third in the 400 free relay.
