Four Flames Are Event Winners at Oakland

UIC's Women and Men Were Outscored in Dual Meet

UIC swam its final dual meet of the fall against defending conference champion Oakland Saturday afternoon.  Though the Golden Grizzlies won the men's and women's duals, several Flames had winning performances and season-best times.

Event Winners Top Performers
  • Jan Komorowski made his season debut, and took second in the 1000 free.  It was the first individual event of his career that he did not win.  Later in the meet, he took second in the 500 by just 0.04 second.
  • Liam Davis was third in the 1000 free and the 100 fly
  • Kalie Landrum was second in the 200 free, one spot ahead of Victoria Thor, and also took second in the 100 free.
  • Josh Dellorto took second in the 200 free and 100 free.
  • Anna Scovill finished second in the 50 back.
  • Taira Juronis was third in the 50 breast.  Ben Ramminger was second in the event on the men's side.  Juronis took second in the 100 breast.
  • Lilly Culp was second in the 100 fly
  • Poleena Kovalaske and Jeff Wiedoff each took second in the 50 free.
  • Ciara McCliment was second in 1-meter and 3-meter diving, setting season highs in both events.
  • Hunter Trautmann established a career high on the 3-meter board, finishing third.  He was also third in 1-meter.
  • Victoria Thor was second in the 500 free, just ahead of Neri and Maddie Hawker.
  • Kyle Lewarchick was third in the 500 and the 100 IM, where he led a trio of consecutive Flames including Alex Dvorak and Dan Galinski.
 Relays
  • Scovill, Juronis, Izabella Del Rosario, and Kovalaske formed UIC's A-200 medley relay team for the third straight meet.  They came in fourth.
  • Owen Zant moved into the leadoff spot in the 200 medley relay, while Cory Michalek moved to the freestyle leg.  Along with Ben Ramminger and Jeff Wiedoff, they set the team's best time of the season and finished third.
  • Kovalaske, Landrum, Beth Kelzer, and Bree Moericke were second in the 200 free relay.
  • Wiedoff, Dellorto, Davis, and Michalek took second in the 200 free relay.

  • The Flames will have a week off before their final competition of the fall.
  • UIC will swim at the IUPUI House of Champions invitational on November 18-20.
