ST. LOUIS – The Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) announced their annual State Farm MVC Good Neighbor Award for winter sport student-athletes today.
Molly Kroeger of UIC women's swimming and diving has been selected as the Flames' recipient for the winter sports season.
Â
To be selected for this award, student-athletes must retain good academic standing, demonstrate good citizenship through sportsmanship and significant community service involvement, and participate in an MVC-sponsored sport during the season of recognition. The Valley honors student-athletes during the fall, winter, and spring with each member institution selecting their respective honorees for the State Farm MVC Good Neighbor Award.
Â
Out of the pool, Kroeger continues to be a leader in the classroom and the community. Kroeger has maintained a 4.0 GPA as a biomedical engineering major and has been a member of the Dean's List every semester of her collegiate career.
Â
In the community, she is a Student Fellow with Team IMPACT, helping plan and execute major service events. She also volunteers with Chicago Area Field Day, participated in the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Student Visionaries of the Year Campaign, taught water safety to children through the No More Under Swim Safely Series, contributed to fundraising for gastrointestinal cancer research and patient support via Eisenopoly with the Harold E. Eisenberg Foundation, is an active member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee Community Service Subcommittee and helped lead a campus "food fight," donating over 1,750 items to UIC Pop-up Pantry.
Â
Kroeger adds another accolade to her list of postseason awards and recognitions this season, having also won the Women's MVC Scholar Athlete of the Year, the MVC Elite 18 Award and earned All-MVC First Team in the 500 freestyle event. Kroeger was also named to the NACDA Allstate Good Works Winter Team, due to her work in the community.
