CHICAGO --Â UIC begins its 65th season of basketball on Tuesday, Nov. 9, as the Flames travel to take on Dayton in the regular-season opener for both programs. Tip-off inside UD Arena is set for 6 p.m. (CT). The game will be broadcast locally on Spectrum News 1 and available outside the Dayton market on ESPN+.
MATCHUP BREAKDOWN
• Tuesday's contest will be the third meeting all-time between the Flames and Flyers, with all games having been played at UD arena. Dayton owns a 2-0 record in the series history.
• The two teams first met on Dec. 23, 2011, with Dayton rallying in the second half to collect a 64-57 victory.
• The Flyers, who were receiving votes at the time, improved to 2-0 in the series history with a 75-41 victory on Nov. 29, 2014.
• Dayton was picked to finish fifth in the Atlantic 10 Conference this year, with two Flyers, Toumani Camara and Mustapha Amzil, being named to the Preseason All-Atlantic 10.
FLAMES TOP SCARLET HAWKS IN EXHIBITION
• UIC picked up a 76-59 victory over Illinois Tech on Nov. 4 in the Flames' lone exhibition contest.
• The Flames raced out to a 38-6 lead in the first half and led by double figures the rest of the way.
• Leading 19-6 with 14:22 to play, UIC used a 19-0 run over 8:05 of game action to put the game out of hand.

Kevin Johnson scored a team-high 18 points on 7-for-11 shooting while fellow newcomer
Damaria Franklin added 13 points and nine rebounds.

Zion Griffin scored 10 points while dishing out a game-high seven assists and
Michael Diggins had a team-high 13 rebounds to go along with his seven points.
DEFEND THE ARC
• UIC owned one of the top 3-point defense a year ago, limiting opposing teams to just 30.1% shooting from distance.
• In games against Valparaiso and Robert Morris last year, UIC held the Crusaders and Colonials to 7.1% shooting from long distance.
• The performances are tied for the third-lowest 3-point field goal percentage by a UIC opponent dating back to 2010.
• In the Flames' exhibition win over Illinois Tech, the Scarlet Hawks shot just 16.% from deep.
HENRY'S HOMECOMING
• Tuesday's contest will be a homecoming for UIC's Director of Operations,
Henry Stark.
• Stark, a 2019 graduate of Dayton, spent four years on the Fyler bench as a student manager.
