CHICAGO -- UIC returns home for its second city bragging rights game of the year as the Flames welcome DePaul to Credit Union 1 Arena on Tuesday, Dec. 14. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. and the game will be broadcast on ESPN+.
OPENING TIP
• The Flames got back to its winning ways on Saturday (Dec. 11) with a 71-67 win at Central Michigan. Four Flames scored in double figures, led by
Kevin Johnson's team-high 14, while all nine players who saw the court scored at least three points and brought in at least one rebound.
•
Kevin Johnson ranks second in the Horizon League with 6.3 assists per game, while his game-high nine assists in UIC's victory over Valpo are tied as the ninth-highest single-game assist total in the League so far this season. Johnson ranks ninth nationally in assists per game.
MATCHUP BREAKDOWN
• Following a year off, UIC and DePaul will be renewing their rivalry on Tuesday for the 14th meeting in program history.
• The Blue Demons own an 11-2 advantage in the series which dates back to 1947, and are winners of three consecutive in the series. Tuesday's game will be the third consecutive meeting in which UIC and DePaul will play on Dec. 14, having played on this date in 2018 and 2019.
• The Blue Demons are off to an 8-1 start under first-year head coach Tony Stubblefield.

Kevin Johnson has led UIC's offense as the point guard this season, handing out a team-leading 57 assists while only turning the ball over 26 times.Â
• Johnson's 6.3 assists per game and 57 total assists are second in the Horizon League. Johnson ranks ninth nationally in assists per game and 17th in the country in total assists.
• Johnson has remained a consistent presence all year, tallying four or more assists in every game this year and seven or more assists five times.
• As a team, the Flames have 140 assists on the year, the most in the Horizon League.
• UIC dished out a season-high 28 assists in its 91-50 win over Trinity Christian on Nov. 16. The 28 helpers are the most under
Luke Yaklich and were just three shy of matching the program record for most assists in a game (31, twice, last vs. Northeastern Illinois on Dec. 9, 1987).
LARSSON PERFECT VS. CHIPPEWAS
• Making just his second appearance of the season, and playing his first significant minutes of the year, had a perfect day from the field against Central Michigan.
• The native of Oslo, Norway, finished a perfect 4-for-4 in field goal attempts and 2-for-2 from the free throw line to finish with 10 points.
• The big man also chipped in three rebounds, a block and a steal in 11 minutes of action off the bench.
• In two games of action this year, Larsson is 6-for-7 from the field.
