The UIC Flames (2-5, 1-3 Horizon) are scheduled to face the Indiana State Sycamores (3-6) on Tuesday at 5 p.m; in Terre Haute, Ind. The Flames are coming off a 68-64 overtime win against Detroit Mercy. Indiana State is coming off of a 78-50 loss to the Nebraska Cornhuskers.
In the Flames' last game, UIC held out in a 68-64 overtime victory against the Titans of Detroit Mercy,
Jaida McCloud scored a career-high 30 points while going 14-17 from the free-throw line.
Kristian Young came up big for UIC as well, scoring 11 points, including some clutch foul-line shots that pushed the game to overtime. Freshman guardÂ
Bailey Lutes, also managed eight points, shooting a perfect 2-2 from beyond the arc and nailing both of her free throws.Â
Indiana State's last game against 10-0 Nebraska featured only one Sycamore in double-digit scoring figures, with
 Del'Janae Williams scoring ten points. Indiana State committed 26 turnovers in that game as well, allowing Nebraska to score 24 points off of the turnovers. The Sycamores have hold a 1-2 record at the Hulman Center this season,Â
A key point that the Flames will look to emphasize leading up to the game is ball security. Indiana State forces 22.6 turnovers per game and averages 12 steals a game, ranking them 25 in the nation in steals per-game, and 22 in turnovers forced per-game. UIC is known to create turnovers as well, forcing 21.3 per game while averaging 9.4 steals a game. If the Flames can win the turnover battle, they have a great chance to take down the Sycamores.Â
This will be the sixth game of the series between these two teams. Indiana State holds a 4-1 record over UIC, with the Flames' lone win coming on Nov. 30, 2017. In their last game, the Sycamores defeated the Flames 61-40 on Nov. 19, 2019. UIC has yet to win a game against Indiana State in Terre Haute, Ind. The closest the Flames have gotten to defeating the Sycamores at the Hulman Center was in 2018, where the Flames fell 60-53.
