CHICAGO – Following the final game of the 2020-21 regular season Saturday afternoon, UIC honored two members of its senior class,
Jada Nneji and
Jealissa Presswood, in an on-court ceremony at Credit Union 1 Arena.
The Flames (3-15, 1-13 Horizon League) fell in the contest to the Milwaukee Panthers, 72-53. The Panthers (18-6, 15-5 Horizon League) got off to a fast start, outscoring the hosts 20-5 in the first 10 minutes and never looking back.
First Half Highlights
- Keona Schenck swiped the ball away and ran it back for two to get the Flames on the board first, but the Panthers made their reply in their next possession with a three, 3-2.
- Kristian Young was able to put away a jumper before the Panthers ran away with the quarter, limiting the Flames to just one free throw through the remainder of the period and taking a 20-5 lead.
- Young got UIC back on the board in the first 30 seconds of the second quarter, 20-7. The Panthers cashed in on a pair of threes, before Young put in a three of her own for the Flames, 28-11.
- Lindsey Rogers and Tiana Jackson scored four unanswered points with a pair of jumpers, 30-15. Free throws from Young and Jada Nneji finished out UIC's scoring in the first half and left Milwaukee with a 36-17 advantage after the first two periods.
Second Half Highlights
- The Panther defense kept the Flames from scoring in the first six minutes of the second half, taking the first nine points of the third quarter for themselves, 45-17. Rogers snapped the scoreless streak for UIC with a three, 45-20.
- Schenck put one away beyond the arc, and Jealissa Presswood followed with a jumper, 48-27.
- Milwaukee scored the next six, but a layup from Jaida McCloud, a jumper from Tiana Jackson and a freebie from Schenck gave the Flames the final five points of the third quarter, 54-32.
- Jackson started off the fourth quarter with a jumper, before a three-point conversion for McCloud, 56-37. The Flames' next six points all came at charity stripe, 60-43.
- The Panthers put away a three before McCloud and Presswood each put in a bucket for UIC, 63-47.
- Jackson put away a three with just under a minute left in the game to finish out the scoring for the Flames, who ultimately fell 73-53.
Facts & Figures
- Jaida McCloud paced UIC's offensive efforts with 12 points. The freshman also turned in a pair of rebounds, a pair of assists and a pair of steals.
- Tiana Jackson also finished in double digits for UIC, bringing in 11 points to go with three rebounds and three steals.
- Kristian Young and Lindsey Rogers both finished with nine points and three rebounds apiece. Rogers also handed out a team-high four assists, while Young finished with two assists of her own.
- Keona Schenck led the Flames with four rebounds in addition to her six points.
- The Flames finished the day shooting 38.6 percent (17-for-44) overall on the day, while Milwaukee shot 44.3 percent (27-for-61) on the day.
- Beyond the arc, UIC sank 40 percent (4-for-10) of their shots, compared to 35 percent (7-for-20) for the visitors.
- At the free throw line, UIC shot 46.9 percent (15-for-32), while the Panthers shot 91.7 percent (11-for-12).
- Milwaukee profited 26 points off UIC's 25 turnovers, while the Flames added 19 points off the Panthers' 21 miscues.
- The visitors were stronger in the paint, 32-24, as well as on the second chance, 8-5. Milwaukee's bench outscored UIC's, 27-18.

- UIC will now turn its attention to postseason play, which begins with the Horizon League Women's Basketball Championship on Thursday, Feb. 25.
- First-round games will take place without fans on campus sites across the conference. The Flames will travel to take on sixth-seeded Cleveland State.
