LAST TIME OUT

  • The Flames (3-9) shot nearly 50 percent in the first period and took advantage of seven Rockford turnovers in the opening 10 minutes.
  • The second quarter featured more of the same as UIC took a 30-point lead into the locker room at the half. Rockford scored just three points in the third quarter as the home team pushed its lead out to 44 at 66-22.

FRESHMEN PHENOMS
  • The Flames own one of the youngest rosters in the nation, made up of five freshman, six sophomores and two seniors.
  • UIC's average roster age is 19.23, giving them one of the top-10 youngest rosters in the nation.
  • The Flames have been utilizing their freshmen early on, with four freshmen appearing in the starting five so far - Keona Schenck, Jaida McCloud, Kristian Young and Lindsey Rogers.
  • UIC has had a freshman as its top scorer in all but two games, and three freshmen are averaging double digits in scoring (McCloud, 13.9 ppg, Young, 11.8 ppg, and Schenck, 10.3 ppg). Those same freshmen make up UIC's top three scorers.
  • The Flames' freshmen currently make up 57 percent of their scoring.
  • UIC had two freshmen pick up Horizon League Freshman of the Week honors in a three-week span, with Jaida McCloud taking home the honor on Dec. 7 and Kristian Young picking up the title on Dec. 21.
SCOUTING THE JAGUARS
  • Defending Horizon League Champion IUPUI currently ranks fourth in the conference with a 7-3 record in Horizon League play.
