CHICAGO – The UIC women's tennis team (4-4) prepares for a busy stretch of matches this week as they host Chicago State, Cardinal Stritch and Roosevelt. The Flames will begin the week with the Cougars on Tuesday, March 2, before continuing with Cardinal Stritch on Thursday, March 4. The busy week wraps up on Friday, March 5 as UIC hosts Roosevelt. All three matches will be played at XS Tennis.
The Flames came up short in both of their matches last weekend, falling 4-3 to both Toledo (Feb. 26) and Illinois State (Feb. 27). Overall, the Flames are 26-21 in singles matches this dual season, with
Lucie Prochazkova and
Ana Jover leading the way with identical 6-2 records in singles play so far this season.
Chicago State is 0-2 on the season so far after a pair of 7-0 losses to Bradley (Feb. 27) and Illinois State (Feb. 28) this past weekend. The Flames are 7-5 all-time against the Cougars after taking last season's meeting between the two teams on Feb. 6, 2020, 5-2.
Cardinal Stritch is 1-2 after picking up their first win of the season on Feb. 13, a 6-1 victory over the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. The Flames took home the win in both meetings all-time, most recently shutting out the Wolves 7-0 on Feb. 28, 2019.
Roosevelt has yet to begin their season, looking to build off a 7-2 campaign in the shortened 2019-20 season. Friday's contest will serve as the first-ever meeting between the Flames and the Lakers.
Following the busy stretch, the Flames will prepare to begin Horizon League action, which is set to get underway on Saturday, March 13.
