CHICAGO – It was announced on Wednesday that the UIC-Northern Kentucky women's tennis matches scheduled for March 20-21 in Chicago were canceled due to COVID-related matters within Northern Kentucky's Tier I personnel. Instead, the Flames will host city-foe Roosevelt in a rematch on Sunday, March 21 at 10 a.m. CT at the Flames Outdoor Tennis Courts.
UIC will look to extend its five-match win streak after taking a pair of wins over Cleveland State last weekend in its Horizon League opener. The Flames edged past the Vikings 4-3 on Saturday (March 13) and finished out the series with a 5-2 win on Sunday (March 14).
Freshman
Agnes Gustafsson picked up the second-straight Horizon League Singles Player of the Week award for the Flames on Wednesday, taking home the honor after a 2-0 performance in singles play last weekend against the Vikings.
The Flames hold a 51-26 edge in singles action over their opponents. Junior
Ana Jover leads the way, winning her last seven-straight singles matches for a 10-2 record in singles so far this season. Senior
Georgia Gulin follows with a 9-2 record, winning her last four singles matches consecutively.
In doubles, UIC holds a 19-13 edge over its opponents, and Jover once again has the lead, owning a 7-3 record when playing as part of a tandem this season. Gustafsson follows closely with a 6-5 record in doubles action so far.
Roosevelt has had a break in action since facing the Flames in the first-ever meeting between the two teams on March 5. UIC came out victorious in that match, 7-0.
