UIC got a couple of hard-fought wins, including
Casey Schrader's first collegiate singles win, but the Flames fell to DePaul 6-1 on Saturday.
The first outdoor match of the season was a closer affair than the first time the teams met.Â
Anthony Nguyen and
Gustavo Schwebel won their doubles set, and
Pelle Strandberg and
Artem Iermolov were up 6-4 in the tiebreaker before falling and conceding the doubles point.
Schrader had not been available in singles the last few matches due to a lingering injury. He made his return on the #6 court and rallied after dropping the first set.
The Flames will return to the outdoor courts tomorrow against Chicago State.
