CHICAGO – UIC second baseman Matt Bottcher has been named the Horizon League Batter of the Week as the league office announced its weekly winners Tuesday (March 30). Bottcher helped guide the Flames to a 4-0 record in a series sweep at Oakland this past weekend.
 
This is Bottcher's second Batter of the Week honor of the season after picking up the award the first week of the year.
 
In his return to the UIC lineup following an injury, Bottcher helped lead the Flames to a series sweep of Oakland this past weekend on the road. The graduate student started all four games for UIC, slashing .500/.526/.813 with eight hits, including two doubles and a home run.
 
The second baseman drove in five runners, led the team with 13 total bases and added a pair of walks as well as a stolen base. In addition, the redshirt senior recorded three multi-hit games including a pair of games with three hits and multiple RBIs.
 
UIC is back in action this Friday and Saturday, April 2-3, as the Flames hit the road to take on Youngstown State in a four-game series.
