UIC battled from start to finish, but Northern Kentucky won enough key points to take a 6-1 win on Saturday.  "We had good energy in singles and doubles.  We have to stay aggressive tomorrow and reduce errors," Hans Neufeld said.

Anthony Nguyen won in singles and doubles, and four other Flames were a game here or there from flipping their results.

Doubles Results

• Anthony Nguyen and Gustavo Schwebel got the Flames off to a good start with a 6-3 win at #2.
• NKU evened the score with a 6-4 win over Artem Iermolov and Casey Schrader on the #3 court.
• Pelle Strandberg and Luiz Dos Santos were locked in a battle to determine the doubles point.  They rallied from 3-5 down to tie the set at five, but were eventually broken in a 7-5 loss.

Singles Results

• Dos Santos' match at #4 was the first to finish, in a 6-3, 7-5 score for the Norse.
• Schwebel fell 6-4, 7-6 at #3 to put NKU one match away from the team win.
• The Norse clinched the match with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Schrader at #6.
• Strandberg fought back and sent his #1 match to a third set, but ran out of steam in a 6-2, 5-7, 6-1 loss.
• Iermolov saw pivotal points go against him in a 6-4, 6-4 setback.
• Nguyen rallied for a 4-6, 6-4, 7-5 win at #2.  He was down 5-2 in the third set, but won five straight games and finished with an ace on match point.
