CHICAGO – The UIC women's tennis team (17-5, 9-1 HL) clinched its fourth-straight regular season title on Sunday after shutting out conference foe Oakland (2-18, 2-10 HL) in the regular season finale, 7-0. The Flames secured the doubles point and won all five singles matches in straight sets to seal the deal on the regular season title.
The shutout victory also marked career-win number 300 for head coach
Shannon Tully, with all 300 wins of her career coming at UIC. The Flames also honored seniors
Lucie Prochazkova and
Georgia Gulin prior to the match in recognition of their UIC careers.
Doubles Highlights
The Flames started with an edge, as the No. 3 match went to UIC by forfeit.
Lucie Prochazkova and
Ana Jover picked up their sixth-straight win together at No. 2 doubles, defeating Mia Melnizki and Emma Hultqvist, 6-2, to clinch the doubles point for the Flames. The No. 1 doubles match between UIC's
Agnes Gustafsson and
Marina Hermanny de Figueiredo and Oakland's Yasmin Glazbrook and Nirva Patel went unfinished.
Singles Highlights
UIC went up 2-0 after the No. 6 match went to the Flames by forfeit. Gustafsson finished first at No. 2, taking down Patel, 6-0, 6-2. Jover once again clinched the match for UIC in the No. 4 match, taking down Joelle Tabernal, 6-0, 6-3. Prochazkova earned her eighth-straight singles win at No. 3, besting Melnizki in straight sets, 6-3, 6-1.
Georgia Gulin added a win for the Flames at No. 5, defeating Hultqvist, 6-4, 6-0, while
Tamara Malazonia completed the shutout with a 6-3, 7-5 win over Glazbrook at No. 1.

The Flames have secured the No. 1 seed in next weekend's Horizon League Women's Tennis Championship and will face the No. 4 seed in the Semifinals, which are set for Saturday, May 1 at 10 a.m. CT.
