CHICAGO – The University of Illinois Chicago is proud to serve as a presenting sponsor of the upcoming Chicago Baseball Month throughout the month of August. The Chicago Baseball Month is owned and operated by the Chicago Baseball and Educational Academy (CBEA), with UIC baseball Hall of Famer and three-time MLB All-Star Curtis Granderson serving as the organization's founder and president.

"Chicago Baseball Month is our effort to unite all the children of Chicago as one team," said CBEA Executive Director Steve Hartley. "We have united community leaders from Major League Baseball, The Bulls, UIC and the State of Illinois to raise awareness and support for youth baseball in Chicago. After a very long pandemic year, getting the children together on a ballpark of a college campus as the entire city roots for them is something the Chicago Baseball and Educational Academy is proud to spearhead. We believe this is an important step in revitalizing youth sports in Chicago."

CBEA is dedicated to providing high quality baseball education and mentoring programs to Chicago youth who may not otherwise have access.

The month-long celebration will be held at UIC's Granderson Stadium, beginning with the Kick-Off Festival from August 6-8. Chicago Baseball Month will feature a citywide youth baseball tournament, training workshops, skills competitions, panel discussions, camps, equipment giveaways, a celebrity wiffle ball game, opportunities to meet Chicago baseball celebrities and more.

"Flames Athletics is proud to partner with CBEA on Chicago Baseball Month," said Director of Athletics Michael Lipitz, who serves on the Chicago Baseball Month's presentation committee. "Bringing together the entire Chicago baseball community on UIC's campus aligns with our mission to educate and empower through sport and with our commitment to serve our local communities."
