Men’s Basketball Announces Season Ticket Opportunities and Non-Conference Schedule

UIC opens the regular season Nov. 9 at Dayton

CHICAGO – The UIC Department of Athletics announced opportunities for fans to secure men's basketball season tickets and amenities as well as the non-conference schedule for the upcoming season on Tuesday (Sept. 7). The Flames' non-conference schedule features a quartet of home games against in-state opponents as well a tournament in Las Vegas over the Thanksgiving holiday.

"We are excited about the upcoming season and the non-conference schedule we have developed," said head coach Luke Yaklich. "We are looking forward to playing strong competition against a number of regional opponents that will prepare our team for the Horizon League season. Likewise, we are excited about welcoming fans back to Credit Union 1 Arena. Their support makes all the difference as we build the program into one that Flames Nation can be proud of."

The Flames will tip off the 2021-22 season on Thursday, Nov. 4, in a home exhibition against the Illinois Institute of Technology before hitting the road to take on Dayton in the regular season opener on Nov. 9. The Flyers finished the 2020-21 season with an appearance in the NIT.

Four days later, UIC will head back on the road for a rematch against Valparaiso on Nov. 13. The two teams met a season ago, with the Flames claiming a 66-50 victory at Credit Union 1 Arena. UIC's defense smothered the Beacons' offense, limiting Valparaiso to just 1-for-14 shooting (7.1%) from beyond the arc, the third-lowest 3-point percentage for an opponent against UIC since 2010.

Following the pair of road games, UIC returns to the comforts of Credit Union 1 Arena to take on Trinity Christian on Nov. 16, the first of four in-state opponents. The Trolls, a NAIA member, advanced to the championship game of the NCCAA North Central Regional a year ago.

The Flames then make a quick trip to Rogers Park on Nov. 20 for a Chicago bragging rights game against Loyola. The Ramblers advanced to the Sweet 16 in last year's NCAA Tournament.

Over the Thanksgiving holiday, UIC will travel to Nevada for the Las Vegas Classic on Nov. 25-26. The event will feature Hawaii, San Diego and South Alabama, along with the Flames, squaring off at Orleans Arena. Matchups for the tournament will be announced at a later date.

Another return trip awaits UIC on Dec. 11, as the Flames head north to take on Central Michigan. UIC and the Chippewas met in the second game of the regular season a year ago, with the Flames taking a 74-72 victory.

A pair of home games round out the non-conference slate, both against nearby opponents. After a one-year hiatus, cross-town rival DePaul is back on UIC's schedule, with the Blue Demons coming to Credit Union 1 Arena on Dec. 14. The contest will be the sixth home-game for UIC in the series.

The Flames round out non-conference action on Dec. 19 with a home contest against Northern Illinois. UIC opened the 2020-21 season in stunning fashion against the Huskies, coming back from 22 points down in the second half to win, 65-61. A 3-pointer with 16 seconds remaining gave the Flames the lead and Coach Yaklich his first win at the helm of the program. UIC's comeback ranks as the fifth-largest deficit overcome in a Division I basketball game last year.

Flames fans can see the team in action all season long by becoming a UIC basketball season ticket holder.

Fans can secure the best seats at Credit Union 1 Arena and sit courtside for the full slate of 15 games this upcoming season. Tickets prices have been reduced for 2021-22 season, with courtside seats priced at $400 each, $100 less than during the last season the Flames welcomed fans to home games, prior to the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Flames fans wishing to purchase courtside seats will be required to be a donor to the Flames Athletics Fund (FAF), the annual fundraising organization for UIC Athletics. A gift of $250 will allow supporters to purchase up to four courtside season tickets.

Individuals interested in sitting in the lower level of Credit Union 1 Arena, will have two options available. Season tickets in the priority center court sections (104-105 and 113-14) are $200 each. A gift of $100 to the Flames Athletics Fund will allow fans to purchase up four seats. Non-priority lower-level season tickets in other sections will also be $200 each, with no FAF donation required.

The Impact Courtside Club returns for the 2021-22 campaign, providing fans with exclusive access to the hospitality area that is one of the most unique in college basketball. Members will enjoy catered food options, a bar consisting of beer, wine and Pepsi products, in addition to other amenities including comfortable seating areas, televisions to monitor action from other sporting events in progress and much more. Season passes to the Impact Courtside Club are $400 each, a reduction of $100 compared to the 2019-20 season. Club season pass members must also be UIC men's basketball season ticket holders and contribute to the Flames Athletics Fund at the $100 level or above. Donations to the Flames Athletics Fund are cumulative, thus contributions made to secure seating privileges also count towards Impact Courtside Club eligibility.

Current UIC men's basketball season ticket holders will receive information regarding the renewal of their seats in the coming days. Fans wishing to find out more about securing their season tickets and joining the Flames Athletics Fund can visit the 'Tickets' section of the UIC Athletics website at UICFlames.com or call 312-413-8421 for more information.
