@UIC_WBB Opens Weekend Series At IUPUI

The Flames Travel To Indianapolis For The First Of Two Games Against IUPUI

1/20/2022 4:00:00 PM

UIC women's basketball (2-11, 1-7 Horizon) face off against one of the top mid-major teams in the nation: IUPUI (10-5, 7-3 Horizon). In the Flames' most recent game, UIC fell to Robert Morris, 50-44, in a close game that came down to the wire. IUPUI's most recent game came against Youngstown State. The Jaguars and the Penguins went shot for shot throughout regulation, with the Jaguars forcing overtime and clinching a 76-68 win.

The Flames have been working to swing the momentum in their favor heading into the weekend. UIC has been focused on effort and intensity heading into this weekend, something that they will need to compete with a top team. In their last outing, the Flames were led by Jaida McCloud, who finished with 14 points, ten rebounds, five assists, two steals, and a career-high five blocks. UIC will aim to expand on the successes of their last games, and minimize any shortcomings to upset the No. 11 Jaguars.

The Jaguars are ranked No. 11 according to the Collegeinsider.com Mid Major Top 25 list. The Jaguars have an impressive resume this season, holding a win over Iowa and currently riding a five-game win streak. IUPUI has three players averaging double-digit points, including Macee Williams, who is averaging 17.8 points per game; good enough for the fifth-highest scoring average in the Horizon League.

Tip-off for this game will be Friday, Jan. 21, at 6:00 p.m. in Indianapolis, Ind.
