UIC will turn its sights toward Valley foe Bradley, for a Sunday afternoon match that will give the winner a leg up in the race to finish in the top half of the conference standings.
The Flames and Braves are tied for fifth place. Fourth place is the cutoff line for hosting a conference tournament match, and with three matches remaining, every opportunity to get three points will be critical.
The teams met in Chicago on September 24.Â
Andres Lemus,
Josh Torres, and
Ricardo Avalos each scored in UIC's 3-0 win. Torres has scored two more goals since that outing, and leads the team with five on the season. He had one in the Flames' last outing, against Notre Dame Tuesday.Â
Paul Brauckmann also scored in that match, and made it two in a row with a personal best four shots.
Since falling to UIC last month, Bradley has gone 1-3-2, but 1-1-1 at home, where they are 3-1-2 on the season. Pepe Mallado is the team leader, with two goals and two assists. Nick Burke has taken control of the goalkeeping duties. He has a 1.75 goals-against average and a .738 save percentage.
Kickoff on Sunday will be at 1 p.m. in Peoria. Coverage will be on ESPN3.
