CHICAGO -- UIC, winners of three consecutive MVC matches, returns home this weekend for a pair of matches against the two fellow newcomers to the conference.
FIRST SERVE
• The Flames open the weekend Friday night against Belmont at 6 p.m. before returning to the Flames Athletic Center Saturday afternoon for a 3 p.m. contest against Murray State.
• Head coach
Justin Ingram became the fourth coach in UIC history to notch 100 career wins with the Flames with the team's 3-1 win over Illinois State on Oct. 2. In his sixth year at the helm of the program, Ingram is now 98-58 all-time with the Flames
• In UIC's 3-0 sweep of Valparaiso on Monday, Sept. 26, the Flames picked up their first-ever conference win as members of the MVC. UIC did so in impressive fashion, holding the Beacons to their lowest hitting percentage (-.010) in a match since Sept. 1, 2000.
IN-STATE WINS
• The Flames improved to 5-2 in games against in-state opponents with a weekend sweep of Bradley and Illinois State.
• UIC went 3-2 in non-conference play, defeating Chicago State, Loyola and DePaul.Â
• The Flames have won their last three in-state matches after winning against Bradley and Illinois State.
DELUCCHI COLLECTS MVC HONORS
• Outside hitter
Martina Delucchi picked up the first MVC weekly honor in program history on Sept. 12 when she was named the conference Player of the Week.
• Delucchi was instrumental in UIC's upset win over Miami, as the junior nearly tallied a double-double with a match-high 19 kills to go along with nine digs and three aces. The native of La Plata, Argentina followed with her team-leading third double-double of the season against UNC Wilmington, finishing with a match-high 18 kills to go along with 17 digs in a five-set battle, before rounding out the weekend with a team-best 13 kills against UCF.
