Men's Basketball Set to Host Prairie View A&M Tuesday

Flames Look For Second Straight Victory in Non-MVC Play

CHICAGO – After a six-point victory over Western Michigan on Saturday, the Flames men's basketball program returns to action on Tuesday, as they are set to host the Prairie View A&M Panthers at Credit Union 1 Arena. Tuesday's home game is set to tip-off at 7:00 p.m., as the Flames put their 6-2 non-conference record on the line.

The game will be broadcast on ESPN+. The Voice of the Flames, Jonathan Hood, alongside Hall of Famer Kenny Williams, will have the call of the game on the Flames Network, available on UICFlames.com and via the link in the blue box above.
 
MATCHUP BREAKDOWN
 
  • Saturday's contest will be the first in program history between the Flames and Panthers. The Panthers, out of the Southwest Athletic Conference, enter with a record of 4-5 on the season.
  • Prairie View A&M is playing the second game of its Chicago road trip. They lost at Northwestern, 61-51, on Sunday.
  • Will Douglas leads the team in scoring, with 14.1 points per game. Kortrijk Miles has been nearly automatic from the free throw line. His 95.8% rate is fourth in the NCAA.
  • The Panthers have shown a propensity to pick their opponents' pocket. With 8.8 steals per game, they rank in the top 60 in the nation. 
 
TURNOVER MACHINE
 
  • UIC had its best turnover margin of the season, +14, against Western Michigan.
  • The Flames captured 21 turnovers and committed only seven, one more than their season low.
  • UIC had a 23-0 advantage in points off turnovers against the Broncos.
  • Through 10 games, the Flames have forced their opponents to commit 16.2 turnovers per game.
  • UIC is first in the Missouri Valley and 53rd nationally in the category. The Flames' +3.4 turnover margin is second among MVC schools and ranks 54th nationally.
  • The Flames have forced double-digit turnovers in every game but one this season. They have grabbed 20 or more turnovers three times. 
 
BREAKING THE DRAW
 
  • The Flames enter Tuesday's game with a 2-2 record at Credit Union 1 Arena, with home wins over Trinity Christian and Jacksonville State.
  • UIC boasts a +19 overall scoring margin in home games this season, including a +34 margin in non-MVC games.
  • Tuesday's contest is the first of three home games slated for the Flames in the month of December.
