Men's Basketball Rounds Out Two-Game Home Stretch Sunday

Flames Take On Northeastern In Sunday Matinee

CHICAGO – Riding a two-game winning streak, the Flames men's basketball team is set to host their second consecutive home game Sunday, as the Huskies of Northeastern University come to town. Sunday's 2:00 p.m. matinee will end the current home stretch before the Flames hit the road next week to take on Northwestern.

The game will be broadcast live on ESPN+. The Voice of the Flames, Jonathan Hood, alongside Hall of Famer Kenny Williams, will have the call of the game on the Flames Network, available on UICFlames.com and via the link in the blue box above.
 
MATCHUP BREAKDOWN
 
  • Sunday's match-up at Credit Union 1 Arena will be the first-ever meeting between the two sides.
  • The Huskies (3-6) enter Sunday's contest with positive momentum, as they are in the midst of their own two-game winning streak.
  • Most recently, Northeastern took down Holy Cross on Saturday, Dec. 10, as they erased an 11-point second half defecit.
  • The Huskies are led in scoring by junior guard Jahmyl Telfort, who averages 15.1 points per game, starting all nine of Northeastern's games.
  • Northeastern is led by Bill Coen, who is currently in his 17th season with the Huskies, and is the winnigest coach in program history.
 
INSIDE AND OUT
 
  • The Flames got their second straight victory on Tuesday over Prairie View A&M, scoring 28 of their 70 points in the paint.
  • To go along with their dominance down low, UIC also shot 44% from the three point line, dropping 11 of their 25 attempted triples.
 
PAGING MR. CARTER
 
  • Sophomore guard Jace Carter stuffed the stat sheet yet again Tuesday night, playing all 40 minutes and netting 15 points and adding four rebounds, three assists, four steals and a block.
  • Carter has now scored in double digits for seven consecutive games, dating back to his career-high 28 points against Stonehill on Nov. 21.
 
CAREER-HIGH CLAY
 
  • Freshman guard Steven Clay went 3-3 from behind the arc in the first half Tuesday against Prairie View A&M, netting him a new career-high nine points to accompany a block, a steal, and an assist in 16 minutes played.
