@UIC_WBB Takes On Green Bay On Thursday Evening

The Flames Travel To Wisconsin To Face Green Bay For The First Game Of The Final Regular Season Road Trip

UIC women's basketball (2-20, 1-16 Horizon) will travel north to Green Bay, Wisc., to take on the Phoenix (15-5, 11-3 Horizon) for the final regular-season road trip. The Flames most recently fell to Detroit Mercy on a last-second shot, 63-61. Jaida McCloud led the team with 19 points and ten rebounds, her fourth career double-double. Leah Yarbrough showed out against the Titans as well, notching career-highs with 15 points and seven rebounds.

The Green Bay Phoenix most recently defeated the Detroit Mercy Titans, 53-39, on Saturday, Feb. 12. The Phoenix holds the third-best record in the Horizon League. Green Bay has been on an eight-game winning streak and has not lost since the last time they faced the Flames dating back to Jan. 8.

The Phoenix are led in scoring by Hailey Oskey, who averages 12.9 points per game. Green Bay is the best defensive team in the Horizon League, holding teams to only 55.3 points per contest. 

The Flames average 53.5 points per game and are shoot 36% from the field. The Flames will need to put up an impressive offense against Green Bay on their home court. UIC has seen an uptick in offensive output from Justice Gee in the past month. Gee has averaged 9.6 points in the past five games, giving the Flames offense a spark offensively from the bench.

Kristian Young has also been a menace defensively off the bench, tying her career-high in steals against Detroit Mercy with six. Young has found herself as the catalyst on offense when she is in the game, averaging 9.5 points and 4.1 assists per contest. Young ranks second in the Horizon League in assists per game.

Thursday's game is scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 17, at 7 p.m.
