STANFORD, Calif. - The Flames (2-5) fell in both of their games on Friday afternoon. In UIC's first game, the Flames fell to the BYU Cougars 6-1. The Flames were unable to capitalize with ducks on the pond and racked up four errors, allowing three unearned runs to score. In game two, UIC fell to Stanford in a tight-knit defensive battle. Both teams were able to collect six hits, but the Cardinal capitalized, scoring the game-winning run in the third inning of play.
GAME ONEÂ
The Flames struggled in the opening game of the weekend against BYU, with the offense managing only one run against the Cougars. UIC managed four hits on the day but did not capitalize with runners on base.Â

Samantha Ferguson, who was able to score
Grace Fleming on the play. Fleming showed out offensively in game one, going 2-3 at the plate and stealing a bag that led to the Flames score.
Errors plagued the Flames on defense, with the scorekeeper marking UIC with four. Three of the six runs the Flames allowed were unearned.
Carlee Jo Clark got the start in game one, as her record falls to 1-2 on the year.
UIC fell to the BYU Cougars, 6-1.
GAME TWO
UIC and Stanford went hit-for-hit in the second game, with Stanford striking first in the third inning. The Cardinal drew a walk that was followed by a double, giving Stanford the 1-0 lead early in the game.Â
Despite the Flames collecting six hits on the game, UIC was unable to score a runner, leaving five stranded.Â
Christina Toniolo pitched well despite the outcome of the game, collecting four strikeouts and eight groundouts. Toniolo's record falls to 1-2 on the year.
UIC fell to the Stanford Cardinal, 1-0.
The Flames will be back in action tomorrow evening, starting with a 5:00 p.m. game against San Jose State. UIC will then wrap up Saturday with a rematch against Stanford, scheduled for 8:00 p.m.
