2/23/2022 12:18:00 PM

UIC women's basketball (2-22, 1-18 Horizon) hosts the Robert Morris Colonial (12-13, 10-10 Horizon) for the first game of the final weekend of the Horizon League regular season on Thursday, Feb 24, at 4 p.m. UIC is coming off a 65-57 loss to the Milwaukee Panthers. Robert Morris is coming off a 64-49 loss to Northern Kentucky.

The last time these Flames and Colonials faced off was in Moon Township, Pa. Robert Morris won the game 50-44 despite an impressive effort from the Flames. UIC's Jaida McCloud recorded a 14 point, ten rebound double-double. McCloud also recorded five assists, five blocks, and two steals. UIC as a team shot 38% from the field against the Colonials. Robert Morris was held to only 33% from the field but was able to score nine second-chance points that sealed the Flames' fate. The Flames will look to match the intensity shown against Milwaukee to spoil the Colonials' trip to Chicago.

UIC is coming off a 65-57 loss to the Milwaukee Panthers last Saturday, Jan. 19. The Flames played tough against the Panthers on the road with McCloud scoring a game-high 22 points against Milwaukee. Kristian Young notched nine points to go along with a team-high six boards. Leah Yarbrough continues to shine off the bench for the Flames, as she scored seven points on 50% shooting from the field. The Flames will look to balance out their offensive output against the Colonials to pull off a victory on Thursday afternoon.

Robert Morris is one of the premier defensive teams in the Horizon League this season, holding teams to 57.9 points per game. The Colonials struggle on offense, however, scoring only 54.7 points a contest. Robert Morris has managed to stay near the middle of the pack in the standings, winning both games against Cleveland State, who currently ranks fourth in the Horizon League.

Tip off is scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 24, at 4 p.m. at Credit Union 1 Arena in Chicago.
