UIC women's basketball (2-24, 1-20 Horizon) will take on Milwaukee (14-15, 13-9 Horizon) for the Flames' opening game of the Horizon League Tournament on Tuesday, Mar. 1, at 7 p.m. The Flames are looking to make some noise in the tournament after some improved play against the Youngstown State Penguins last weekend.Â
The Flames battled against the Penguins, falling 61-54. Despite the outcome, the Flames played well. UIC struggled at the free-throw line, shooting 11-24 at the charity stripe. The Flames will look to improve on that aspect while continuing to play tough defense against their opponent.Â
Milwaukee is coming off a 53-51 win over Purdue Fort Wayne on Saturday, Feb. 26.
McKaela Schmelzer put up 15 points and three assists in the Panthers' victory over the Mastodons. The last time the Flames and Panthers faced off was Feb. 19 at Milwaukee. The Panthers defeated UIC, 65-57 in that game.
Jaida McCloud led the way for the Flames with 22 points.
Tip off for Tuesday's game is scheduled for 7 p.m. at in Milwaukee, Wisc.
