@UIC_WBB And Golden Grizzlies Square Off Sunday

The Flames Will Face The Golden Grizzlies In Chicago On Sunday

2/5/2022 11:53:00 AM

The UIC women's basketball team (2-16, 1-11 Horizon) hosts the Oakland Golden Grizzlies (10-10, 8-5 Horizon) on Sunday, Feb. 6, at 1 p.m. The Flames had Friday off due to complications with Detroit Mercy regarding travel; the Golden Grizzlies fell to IUPUI, 64-56.

The last time these two teams faced off was Dec. 2, 2021, in Rochester, Mich., earlier this season. The Flames fell to the Golden Grizzlies in a close battle, 67-59, despite the offensive output from Justice Gee (12 points) and Jaida McCloud (22 points). Oakland's 3-point shooting shined in the game, as they shot 40% from beyond the arc, making ten 3-pointers on the game.

In the Flames' last game, the team fell to the Northern Kentucky, 71-41 on Tuesday, Feb. 1. UIC struggled to stop the Norse offensively, while the Flames shot 36% from the field. The Flames were led in scoring by McCloud, who put up 14 points in the loss. The Flames will look to turn their offensive woes around against Oakland, who allows 66.3 points per game on average.

Against IUPUI, the Golden Grizzlies were led in scoring by Kahlaijah Dean, who scored 13 points off the bench. Oakland put up a valiant effort against the Jaguars, but sent IUPUI to the line 23 times, where they converted 17 times. Oakland was only able to get to the line seven times in comparison, converting each time.

The Flames and Golden Grizzlies are scheduled for tip off at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 6.
