MILWAUKEE - The UIC Flames (2-25, 1-20 Horizon) fell to the Milwaukee Panthers (15-15, 13-9 Horizon), 55-46 on Tuesday night. Despite an impressive 18 point, ten rebound double-double from
Kristian Young, the Flames were unable to grab the victory. UIC played the Panthers tough throughout, however, the Flames were unable to grab the win in Milwaukee. The Flames end the season 2-25.
The Flames started stellar, especially on defense. UIC held the Panthers to 33% from the field in the first quarter. Young started the Flames off offensively, scoring four points in the opening ten minutes.
Keona Schenck put up a 3-pointer as well to tie up the game going into the second quarter, 10-10.Â
The defensive battle continued in the second quarter of play, as UIC held Milwaukee to 25% from the field. The Flames slowed down offensively, with only Young and
Justice Gee being able to score. The Flames shot 22% in the second quarter. Despite the poor shooting quarter, the Flames held the lead, 18-17, heading into halftime.
Milwaukee came out of the gates hot in the second half of play. The Panthers scored 18 points on the quarter on 55% shooting in the third while holding UIC to 13 points. Milwaukee was able to connect on three 3-pointers in the third to reclaim the lead and the momentum heading into the final quarter.
The Flames continued to fight in the final quarter of play, but Milwaukee's offense had caught its stride. The Panthers scored 20 points on the quarter, the highest output of the game, in the final quarter of play. Young fought hard, grabbing five rebounds and scoring six points in the final quarter, but it was not enough to reclaim the lead for UIC. The Flames fell, 55-46 to Milwaukee in their final game of the season.
