UIC dropped a Horizon League match to IUPUI, 7-0 Saturday in Indianapolis, in a match that was closer than the final score indicated.

"We competed well in five to six singles matches," Hans Neufeld said.  "Pelle and Artem played solid doubles.  We had our chances at number one also; Luiz and Francesco competed well.  We just need to be more aggressive in the tough points."

It was the final of nine straight matches on the road.  UIC's next three matches will be on their home courts.

Doubles Results

• Ammar Wazir and Daan Bank played together for the first time.  IUPUI took an early lead with a 6-0 win over the freshmen.
• Pelle Strandberg and Artem Iermolov evened their record together to 2-2, with a 7-6 win at #2.
• The Jaguars took a tightly contested doubles point with a narrow 7-5 win over Francesco Tacconi and Luiz Dos Santos at #1.

Singles Results

• Strandberg battled on the #1 court, but didn't string enough points together in the tiebreaker and fell, 3-6, 7-5, 5-10.
• Gustavo Schwebel was in the thick of both of his sets in a 7-5, 6-4 loss at #2.
• Tacconi was likewise just a couple of breaks away from coming out on top.  He fell at #3, 7-6, 6-4.
• Wazir rebounded from a slow first set and a half to get to the brink of a tiebreaker before falling, 6-0, 7-6 at #4.  He lost the first nine games before winning six of the last 10.
• Kevin Kruzel's match at #5 went to the brink in both sets before he went down 7-6, 7-5.
• Dos Santos rounded out the lineup in the #6 slot, where he lost 6-1, 6-1.

Up Next

• The first of three straight home matches will be April 2 against Youngstown State.
