Box Score YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Down two players due to health and safety protocols, the UIC women's tennis team dropped a 5-2 decision to Youngstown State Friday afternoon in a battle of two unbeaten teams in Horizon League play.
 
Due to the Flames being shorthanded, Youngstown State opened the doubles contest with a walkover victory at the No. 3 spot. The duo of Marina Hermanny de Figueiredo and Dominika Hrabalova evened the action at 1-all with a convincing 6-2 victory in the No. 2 position. Doubles action came down to the top spot where Youngstown State picked up the break it needed to claim the 6-4 victory and take a 1-0 lead into the match.
 
The score immediately grew to 2-0 in favor of the Penguins after UIC was forced to drop the No. 6 singles match via walkover. A Youngstown State win at No. 2 singles made it 3-0 before the Flames picked up back-to-back victories.
 
Playing at No. 4 singles, Lea Forste-Dinell took down Jessica Stanmore, 7-5, 6-2, to put the Flames on the board. Dominika Hrabalova needed a second-set tiebreaker to claim her No. 2 singles match, 6-4, 7-6(2), and pull the Flames within one.
 
Youngstown State took advantage of the shorthanded Flames playing out of position with wins at No. 1 singles to clinch the match before picking up a victory in the No. 5 spot to close out the 5-2 victory.
 
UIC will play its final road match of the regular season Saturday at Cleveland State, with first serve set for 1 p.m. (CT).
