MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The UIC baseball team continued its winning ways, sweeping Milwaukee Saturday in a Horizon League doubleheader. With the pair of wins, the Flames have now won seven of their last eight contests.

Nate Peterson threw a complete game, seven-inning, shutout in Game 1 to lift the Flames to a 7-0 victory. The UIC offense pounded out 17 hits en route to 12 runs for a 12-5 victory to complete the doubleheader sweep.

Game 1 Recap
Peterson threw the first complete game by a Flame this season, as he went the distance in the seven-inning affair. After a scoreless first three innings, the Flames struck first for what would be the game-winning run in the fourth.

Rayth Petersen walked to open the inning and moved to second after a single through the left side by
Breck Nowik.
Cole Conn ripped a double into left center, driving home Petersen to give the Flames a 1-0 lead.

Insurance runs came in the fifth when
Ryan Lin-Peistrup blasted a two-run home run to left to make it 3-0. The lead grew to 4-0 in the sixth when
Ryan Nagelbach had a run-scoring single to plate Conn.

Nowik put the exclamation point on Game 1 when he sent a 3-run shot out to left to make it 7-0 in favor of the Flames.

The seven runs were more than enough for Peterson, who scattered six hits and two walks over the course of seven innings of work. The lefty struck out four en route to his third win of the season.

Game 2 Recap
The Flames set the tone early in Game 2, scoring five runs on five hits in the first inning to jump out to a lead it would not relinquish. Nowik, Conn and Nagelbach all had run-scoring base hits while
Adam Weed drove home two with a double to right center.

Milwaukee climbed back into the contest with a run in the first, two in in the fourth and one in the sixth to get within one at 5-4.

The Panthers' comeback attempt was halted as UIC countered for three in the seventh, two in the eighth and two more in the ninth to pull away. Milwaukee added a run in the fifth to close the final gap to 12-5 in favor of the Flames.

Six players ended Game 2 with a pair of hits while
Bryan Rosario led the way with a 4-for-5 effort. Weed had a career day at the plate, driving home a career-high 4 RBI.

Tyler Ingram picked up his second win of the year with eight strong innings of work. The righty allowed four runs (three earned) while issuing two walks and striking out four.
Joey Morris came on and worked the ninth inning to close out the doubleheader sweep.

The Flames will take their winning streak into a Sunday doubleheader against league-leading Wright State. Game 1 of the doubleheader is set for 12 p.m.
