CHICAGO – UIC had a pair of student-athletes recognized for their success in academics as well as competition Thursday (May 19) as Cole Conn was named to the Horizon League All-Academic Team while Ryan Lin-Peistrup was named an Honorable Mention.

To be eligible for Horizon League All-Academic consideration, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade-point-average of 3.20 or higher (based on a 4.00 scale), have completed at least one year at the member institution, having earned 24 semester-hour or 36 quarter-hour credits, and participate in 50 percent of the team's overall contests or 20 percent of overall contests for pitchers. An Honorable Mention is awarded to student-athletes who received at least 25 percent of votes, but did not make the All-Academic team.

Conn, one of four players on the team to have played in all 43 games this season, is tied for the team lead with seven home runs and 13 doubles while leading the team with 39 RBI on the season. The sophomore entrepreneurship major has been a mainstay behind the plate, with 38 of his 42 starts coming at catcher. Conn was named to the Horizon League Honor Roll in the fall and is expected to be named to the group again this spring.

Lin-Peistrup earns his first All-Academic recognition after earning his master's degree in marketing this spring. Lin-Peistrup is fourth on the team in batting average (.297) with 12 doubles on the year while matching his career-high with four home runs. The shortstop has appeared in 37 games this year while starting in 35 contests.

The Flames wrap up the regular season this weekend with a three-game series at Youngstown State.
