CHICAGO – For the 15th consecutive semester, UIC's student-athletes posted a grade-point average (GPA) above 3.0 in yet another impressive semester academically.
As a department, UIC recorded a 3.27 GPA during the spring semester, an increase from the 3.22 grade-point average posted in the fall. The Flames capped the academic year with a cumulative GPA of 3.31.
A total of 183 UIC student-athletes recorded a mark of 3.0 or higher this spring, while over half (106) finished with a 3.5 GPA or better. An impressive 66 Flames posted a perfect 4.0 GPA during the spring semester.
Among UIC's student-athletes,
39 earned either their bachelor's or master's degree in May. Fifteen Flames graduated with honors, with eight earning Cum Laude recognition (3.5-3.74 GPA), one graduating with Magna Cum Laude honors (3.75-3.89 GPA) and an impressive six Flames (

Marina Hermanny de Figueiredo – WTEN) earning their degree with a 3.9 or better GPA to claim Summa Cum Laude accolades.Â
Sixteen of UIC's 18 athletic programs finished the recent semester with a team GPA of 3.0 or better. The UIC tennis programs earned the top team GPAs this semester as the women's team claimed the overall title with a 3.88 GPA, while the Flames' men's program was the top men's team with a 3.64 GPA.
The Flames baseball and women's basketball program set record-setting GPAs this spring with averages of 3.33 and 3.52, respectively.
For the year, the women's tennis program had a cumulative GPA of 3.91, and all but one program finished the 2021-22 year with a 3.0 or better GPA.Â
Additional academic honors will continue to roll in for the Flames, with the Horizon League Spring Honor Roll being announced later this summer. Â
