UIC Athletics will host the formal Flames Field dedication ceremony on September 17.  All members of the Flames Family are invited to save the date and join in the official opening of the soccer programs' brand new, $5 million facility.

Planned activities include a ribbon-cutting ceremony, presentations by men's and women's soccer representatives and University administration, and the men's soccer team's Missouri Valley Conference debut match against Drake, starting at 7 p.m.  Grand opening festivities will also be held prior to the women's match on September 18, which begins at 1 p.m. versus Illinois State.

Admission to the match, like all men's and women's soccer matches this season, will be free and open to all.  Alumni of the men's and women's soccer programs are encouraged to contact the respective head coaches, Sean Phillips (sephill@uic.edu) or David Nikolic (dnikolic@uic.edu) for a special recognition.

While the project remains on schedule to be completed before the start of the season, and the Flames' men's and women's teams are slated to play some games on the new pitch early in the season, the September 17-18 weekend has been chosen for the ceremonial opening to coincide with each team's Missouri Valley Conference opener.
