CHICAGO – In advance of his team's first season as members of the Missouri Valley Conference, UIC head men's basketball coach Luke Yaklich announced the Flames' non-conference schedule on Monday.

The slate is highlighted by five regular-season home games, including crosstown rival Loyola, and a short trip to Evanston to take on Northwestern. The Flames will also head to the Bronx, N.Y., the week of Thanksgiving for the Tom Konchalski Classic, hosted by Fordham.

"Our team is excited about the upcoming season, our first in the Missouri Valley Conference," said Yaklich. "This non-conference schedule will help prepare us for the challenges that lie ahead in the always tough MVC."

UIC begins the season with four consecutive home games at Credit Union 1 Arena, starting on Tuesday, Nov. 1 with an exhibition against the Illinois Institute of Technology. The regular season gets underway on Monday, Nov. 7 when the Flames host Trinity Christian. The Flames and Trolls met a season ago in a 91-50 UIC victory.

Later in the week, the Flames host Loyola on Friday, Nov. 11, marking the third consecutive year in which the Flames and Ramblers take the court. UIC rounds out its season-opening home stand on Monday, Nov. 14 against Jacksonville State in the first-ever meeting between the two programs. All four home games to open the season will tip off at 7 p.m. at Credit Union 1 Arena.

Yaklich's squad will make its first road trip of the season right before the Thanksgiving holiday, as the team heads to New York City for the Tom Konchalski Classic. Tournament host Fordham, a member of the Atlantic 10 Conference, will be UIC's first opponent on Saturday, Nov. 19, before the Flames round out action against Stonehill (Nov. 21) and Holy Cross (Nov. 22). It will be the first time UIC has faced any of its three opponents.

UIC will remain on the road following the holiday to face Green Bay on Saturday, Nov. 26. The Flames swept two games over the Phoenix a year ago, picking up an 80-63 win on the road before returning to Credit Union 1 Arena to down Green Bay by an 81-77 margin.

The Flames step into league play the week of Nov. 28, for UIC's first-ever contests as members of Missouri Valley Conference. Dates, opponents, and game locations will be announced at a later date.

Non-conference action resumes for the Flames on Saturday, Dec. 10 at Western Michigan in the first meeting against the Broncos since 2003. Two home games follow on Dec. 13 and Dec. 18 as UIC hosts Prairie View A&M (7 p.m.) and Northeastern (1 p.m.), respectively.

UIC rounds out its non-conference slate against Northwestern from the Big Ten on Tuesday, Dec. 20. The Flames will be looking for its fifth win all-time against the Wildcats, in their first matchup since 2014.
