ORLANDO, Fla. – The UIC volleyball team rounded out its final road match of tournament season Sunday afternoon with a 3-1 setback to UCF on the final day of the UCF Invitational.

Martina Delucchi posted a team-high 13 kills while two Flames,
Jaclyn Oblena and
Paola Santiago recorded double digit kills (14 and 10, respectively).
Sohila Wafeek dished out 21 assists and freshman
Francesca Venturini added 15.

The Flames couldn't contain UCF's McKenna Melville, who led all players with 26 kills while hitting at a .382 clip. UCF as a team hit above .400 in the final two sets to pull away with the win.

Santiago, who entered the weekend with five aces on the season doubled her season total in Sunday's match alone, tying her career-high with five.

After nine consecutive road matches to open the season, the Flames return home next weekend to make their home debut when the team hosts the Chicago Cup. UIC will play host to city rivals DePaul, Loyola and Northwestern Friday and Saturday, Sept. 16-17.

News and Notes
- UCF held the Flames' offense at bay, limiting UIC to just a .131 hitting percentage. The low hitting percentage was thanks largely due to the Kinghts' 16.5.
- UIC owned a 9-3 advantage in aces, with Santiago contributing five on her own.
- Freshman Ayat Amin had her best match of her young UIC career with a season-high seven kills. Zahria Woodard added seven kills as well to assist the UIC offense.
