1/23/2023 6:19:00 PM

SPRINGFIELD, MO. – The UIC men's basketball team (9-12, 1-9 MVC) heads back on the road Tuesday, as it heads to the state of Missouri to take on Missouri State (10-10, 6-4 MVC). The Flames will look to stop their current seven-game losing skid, while the Bears enter Tuesday as winners of two of their last three.

MATCHUP BREAKDOWN
  • UIC and Missouri State will matchup Tuesday at Great Southern Bank Arena for the second time in series history, with the first meeting taking place this season on Nov. 30, UIC's first-ever game in the MVC. Bears leading scorer Chance Moore and teammate Donovan Clay each scored 17 points in Missouri State's 66-51 victory over UIC right after Thanksgiving.
  • The Bears are jockeying for position in the MVC, as their 6-4 conference record puts them in a log-jam tie for fourth place.
  • Great Southern Bank Arena has been very kind to the Bears this season, as they boast a 6-3 record at home, contrasting with a 4-7 record in games played outside of Springfield.
  • The duo of Chance Moore (11.5 ppg) and Donovan Clay (10.3 ppg) lead a balanced offensive attack for Missouri State, with all of its probable starting lineup averaging over seven points per game.
  • In its most recent contest, Missouri State lost a four-point game to the MVC-leading Salukis of Southern Illinois.

FLAMES FACTS
  • In UIC's Jan. 21 loss against UNI, the Flames had two scorers (Jace Carter [20] and Tre Anderson [27]) score 20 or more points for the first time since Nov. 14 against Jacksonville State, when the same duo netted 22 (Carter) and 20 (Anderson).
  • The Flames average 12.67 assists per game this season, which ranks them seventh in the Missouri Valley Conference.
  • In terms of turnover margin, UIC ranks fourth in the MVC, averaging only 13.05 turnovers a game while turning it's opponents over 14.57 times per game, for an average margin of +1.52.
  • Jace Carter leads the way in terms of scoring for the Flames, averaging 15.5 points per game.

Tuesday night's tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m. CT, and can be seen live on ESPN+.
