Women’s Basketball Returns Home Friday to Host Bradley

Flames Look to Continue Three-Game Home Winning Streak

CHICAGO– The UIC women's basketball team (11-8, 3-5 MVC) return home to the Credit Union 1 Arena Friday evening, as it welcomes Bradley (3-16, 0-8 MVC) to begin a two-game homestand over the weekend.

MATCHUP BREAKDOWN
  • UIC and Bradley will be meeting on the court for the 24th time Friday night. The Braves hold a commanding lead in the series, leading the Flames 16-7 overall.
  • UIC head coach Ashleen Bracey will be facing fellow first year head coach in the MVC in Bradley's Kate Popvec-Goss.
  • The Braves are still in search for their first win in the Missouri Valley Conference this season. Their last win came back on Nov. 22 when they defeated Missouri Baptist, 66-46.
  • The Braves are led offensively by Caroline Waite, who is the 14th best scorer in the MVC, averaging 12.4 PPG.
WINLESS IN IOWA
  • The Flames return from a tough road-trip this past week, losing to both Drake and UNI.
  • In UIC's 63-51 loss to the Bulldogs, The Flames were led offensively by Josie Filer who scored 18 points and had three steals.
  • In UIC's 79-44 loss to UNI, Ky Dempsey-Toney had a productive game off the bench. She led the team offensively with 15 points and grabbed nine rebounds.
  • The Flames are now tied for eighth in the MVC.
HOME SWEET HOME
  • The Flames have played their best basketball at home this season, sporting a 6-2 record at Credit Union 1 Arena.
  • Five of those six wins were by five points or less for the Flames, including Josie Filer's buzzer beating three-pointer against Valparaiso back on Jan. 11, 52-51.
PRIDE NIGHT
  • Celebrating members from the LGBTQ+ community, UIC will host its inaugural "Pride Night," this Friday.
  • Affinity Community Services and Pride at UIC are two of the groups scheduled to attend on Friday night.
  • Members of our coaching staff will be wearing ribbons to show their support of the LGBTQ+ community.
 
Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. and will be available to stream on ESPN+.
