VALPARAISO, IND– The UIC women's basketball team (12-9, 4-6 MVC) return to the road Wednesday night, taking on Valparaiso (4-15, 2-8 MVC).
MATCHUP BREAKDOWN
- Valparaiso is the first opponent in the Missouri Valley Conference that UIC will be playing for the second time this season.
- These teams met back on Jan. 11 back home at Credit Union 1 Arena. The Flames were victorious in this match-up after a buzzer-beating three pointer from Josie Filer, 52-51.
- UIC holds a lead in the overall series, 27-25. The Flames have won four of the last seven meetings.
- Valparaiso secured their second MVC win over the weekend, when they defeated Bradley Sunday, 78-71.
SPLITTING GAMES OVER THE WEEKEND
- The Flames finished their weekend homestand with a win against Bradley on Friday and a loss to Illinois State on Sunday.
- In their 52-38 victory over the Braves, Jaida McCloud led the offense with 20 points and eight rebounds.
- In defeat against the Redbirds, 55-42, UIC was led offensively by Filer. She notched her third double-double of the season, scoring 10 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.
- The Flames now enter the week tied for sixth in the MVC.
JOSIE'S JOURNEY TO 1,000
- Filer is 95 points away from achieving 1,000 career points in her collegiate career.
- In her first and lone season with the Flames, the graduate transfer leads the team in scoring with 12.8 PPG.
- Filer has scored in double figures in 15 of the 21 games so far in the season.
