FLAMES FACTS
  • The Flames (8-4-3, 3-2-2 MVC) have gone 1-2-2 in their previous five matches, lowering them from second to fourth in The Valley standings, with just Friday night's match remaining in conference play.
  • Based on the result of Friday's match and the other remaining MVC matches, the Flames could finish anywhere between second and sixth in the final MVC standings, and as such have guaranteed themselves a berth in the 2023 Missouri Valley Conference Championship.
  • After going 7-2-1 combined in August and September, UIC's 1-2-2 record in October can be largely attributed to a lack of consistent offense, as the Flames have scored just three goals in four October matches, excluding a 5-1 victory over Evansville on Oct. 14.
  • Despite its recent struggles, the UIC offense still ranks second in the Missouri Valley Conference in scoring average with 29 goals in 15 matches. The Flames' defense has also been strong this season, as it ranks fourth in fewest goals per match allowed in the conference and has only allowed two or more goals in a match four times all year.
  • Bart Muns (Amsterdam, Netherlands) continues to rank in the top five in the conference in goals with seven, and in the top-10 in assists with five on the year.
  • With five goals on the year, Joshua Torres (Chicago, Ill.) also ranks in the top-10 in The Valley, and is second on the Flames in the category.

Friday night's match will serve as the men's soccer 2023 Senior Night, with the following six UIC student-athletes being honored pre-game for their contributions to the program:

Juan Gutierrez (Waukegan, Ill.)
Andi Kallaba (Chicago, Ill.)
Ezau Millan (Waukegan, Ill.)
Andres Moreno (Cicero, Ill.)
Andres Vasquez (Pittsburgh, Penn.)
Sidney Warden (London, England)

Northern Illinois (5-7-1, 2-3-1 MVC) enters Friday's match with a 2-1-1 record in its last four matches, all Missouri Valley Conference contests. The Huskies currently sit in the sixth and final spot in The Valley standings and have two MVC matches left to play.
