ST. LOUIS (Oct. 25, 2023) – The Missouri Valley Conference named UIC sophomore
Sophia Jaime (Valparaiso, Ind./Valparaiso) its Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week. This is the first time Jaime has received the honor.
The forward/midfielder has found her stride at the end of the regular season for UIC, scoring three goals in the Flames' last two matches. The sophomore netted five points against Illinois State with two goals and one assist. She capped off the remarkable week against Valparaiso, securing the game-winning goal off a beautiful one-on-one move to held UIC clinch the No. 4 seed in the 2023 Missouri Valley Conference Women's Soccer Championship and a first round bye. Jaime currently leads the team in several statistical categories, including goals (four), points (12), shots (32) and shots on goal (21).
The Flames are preparing for the 2023 Missouri Valley Conference Women's Soccer Championship. UIC will take on the winner of No. 5 Murray State and No. 8 Evansville in the second round of the tournament on Sunday at noon at Flames Field. Flames fans can tune into Sunday's contest by streaming the event on ESPN+, while live stats will be available on the Flames' website.
