CHICAGO (OCT. 26, 2023) – Sophomores
Harrison Nolan (Riverside, Ill./Kentucky) and
Kerry-Leigh Morrison (Gauteng, South Africa/St Mary's) were selected by the Mid-American Conference and Missouri Valley Conference respectively as the divers of the week for their efforts in competitions over the past week.
"I'm happy for both Kerry and Harrison who have been recognized for their performances from this past weekend," Associate Head Coach/Head Diving Coach
Susan Bromberg said. "It's a great way to start off the season."
Morrison had a memorable week of competition winning the three-meter board at two separate meets over the weekend. The sophomore finished with a score of 271.20 points at Indiana State and followed that performance with a 301.20 points score less than 24 hours later at Flames Natatorium. Her score on Saturday against Illinois State qualified her for the NCAA Division 1 Zone Diving Championships in March. Morrison also placed in the top-three on the one-meter board at both events.
Nolan had a strong showing in Terre Haute, Ind. to earn himself the MAC Diver of the Week honor. The sophomore won both the three-meter (373.15 points) and the one-meter (330.95 points) diving competition against Southern Indiana and was a key contributor to UIC's 200-98 win over the Screaming Eagles. Nolan has won three out of the four events he has competed at this season and has already qualified for the NCAA Division 1 Zone Diving Championships in both diving events.
The Flames are back in action Friday at 4 p.m. in Milwaukee to take on the Panthers at the Klotsche Natatorium.
