Men's Soccer Closes Regular Season With Monday Matinee

Flames Take on Villanova in Final Regular Season Match

CHICAGO (Oct. 30, 2023) – The UIC men's soccer team (9-4-3, 4-2-2 MVC) is set to close out the regular season Monday, as it will host Villanova (1-7-7, 1-4-3 Big East) for an afternoon kickoff at Flames Field. The Flames have secured a home quarterfinals match on Sunday at Flames Field, with the remaining MVC action on Wednesday deciding what seed UIC will secure and who it will face off against.

  • After securing a home quarterfinal match in the Missouri Valley Conference Championship with a 2-0 win over NIU on Friday, the Flames will play one final non-conference match Monday as they host Villanova.
  • The Flames boast an impressive 6-1-1 record at Flames Field this season, including winning three of their last four in Chicago.
  • The Flames and Wildcats will meet for the first time in men's soccer on Tuesday, as UIC looks to solidify what would be head coach Sean Phillips' fifth 10-win season as head coach.
 
The Wildcats enter the match winless in their last eight, with their last victory coming on Sept. 23 at Providence. Villanova has a 1-5-1 record on the road this season and enters Monday's match on the heels of three straight ties.
