FLAMES FACTS
  • Following a regular season finale 2-1 victory over Villanova on Monday, the Flames secured a double-digit win season for the first time since 2019, and the fifth time in the head coaching career of Sean Phillips.
  • Home-field advantage will certainly be on the Flames' side on Sunday, as UIC boasts an impressive 7-1-1 record at Flames Field this season. This marks the best home record for UIC since 2019, when the Flames went 8-0-1 at home.
  • The Flames enter their second MVC Championship in as many seasons with positive momentum, as they are unbeaten in their previous three matches dating back to a 1-1 draw at Bradley on Oct. 22.
  • Belmont and UIC will meet for the second time this calendar year, as UIC opened conference play on Sept. 16 in Nashville, earning a 2-0 victory and breaking a 20-home-match unbeaten streak for the Bruins, which was the second-longest such streak in the NCAA behind Portland at the time. Bart Muns (Amsterdam, Netherlands/Santa Barbara CC) tallied a brace in the match to supply the offense, and Oren Asher (Hetzliya, Israel/Rutgers) made six saves to earn his third clean sheet of the year at the time.
  • Muns continues to pace the Flames offense, as he ended the regular season with eight goals, the second straight year that UIC's goals leader finished the campaign with eight on the season (Joshua Torres {Chicago, Ill./St. Patrick}, 2022)

The Bruins enter Sunday's quarterfinals match winless in their last three, including a 5-0 loss at Valley frontrunner Western Michigan on Oct. 27. Belmont averages 1.47 goals per match and surrenders a nearly identical 1.41 goals on average to its opponents per contest.

Sunday's 1 p.m. CT kickoff from Flames Field is free to attend for all fans, and will also be live streamed on ESPN+. The winner of Sunday's match will travel to Kalamazoo, Mich. next week for the Missouri Valley Conference Championship semifinals on Wednesday. If UIC prevails on Sunday, it will face off against the number two seed Missouri State at 10 a.m. CT, while the Bruins will take on the top-seeded Western Michigan at 1 p.m. CT if they are victorious Sunday.
