Women’s Basketball to Face Saint Louis on Sunday

The Flames take on the Billikens at 2 p.m in a non-conference showdown

ST. LOUIS (Nov. 25, 2023) – The UIC women's basketball team (4-1) is back in action after the Thanksgiving holiday, as the Flames travel to Saint Louis to take on the Billikens in a Sunday afternoon showdown.

LAST TIME OUT
The Flames moved to 4-1 on the season following a 30-point victory (79-49) over IUPUI on Nov. 19. The win marked the largest margin of victory in head coach Ashleen Bracey's tenure at UIC. The Flames also set highs for the Bracey era in assists (22) and steals (17) in their win over the Jaguars.

Makiyah Williams (Chicago, Ill./Trinity/Marquette) registered her second consecutive 20-point game against IUPUI, finishing with 22 points and six rebounds.. Wiliams scored a career-high of 28 points against SEMO two days prior. For her efforts on the court the Missouri Valley Conference named the junior transfer its Newcomer of the Week.

SCOUTING SAINT LOUIS
Saint Louis enters Sunday's contest with a 3-3 record. The Billikens have wins this season against Missouri, Missouri State and Chaminade University. Sunday's contest against the Flames is SLU's second of the season against an MVC program. The team lost 78-66 to Drake earlier in November. Saint Louis recently suffered defeats at the North Shore Showcase against Wake Forest and BYU.

Kyla McMakin is the leading scorer for the Billikens, averaging 17.2 ppg. Peyton Kennedy follows closely averaging 15.2 ppg, while Brooklyn Gray contributes to the scoring effort with an average of 11.8 ppg.

SERIES HISTORY
UIC currently trails the all-time series 4-2. The first game in the series took place in 1988, with the recent matchup occurring in 2021. The Flames'  last victory over the Billikens was in 2011.
