Men's Soccer Prepares for MVC Semifinal Match Wednesday

#3 UIC to Take on #2 Missouri State at 10 a.m. CT in Kalamazoo

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (Nov. 7, 2023) – The third-seeded UIC men's soccer team is set to play in its first-ever Missouri Valley Conference semifinal match Wednesday, as the Flames travel to Western Michigan to take on the second seed Missouri State.

FLAMES FACTS
  • UIC enters Wednesday's match as winners of its last three, including its first-ever Missouri Valley Conference quarterfinals victory on Sunday over sixth-seeded Belmont. The Flames dominated possession in the win, outshooting the Bruins 20-9 in the match, earning the 2-1 victory.
  • In their last four matches, the Flames have allowed no more than one goal, and UIC is 10-0-1 in matches where it scores two or more goals this year.
  • Bart Muns (Amsterdam, Netherlands/Santa Barbara CC) continues to pace the Flames offense this year, as his eight goals and 22 points on the year lead all UIC forwards.
  • Paul Brauckmann (Welver, Germany) has been a stalwart defensively for UIC this year, as he leads all field players with 1,614 minutes played, and has also netted two match-winning goals.
LAST TIME OUT
The Flames and Bears played to a scoreless draw on Oct. 8, as UIC went on the road and earned a crucial point in the Missouri Valley Conference standings. Missouri State was ranked 15th in the nation at the time, and still holds that spot in the end of the regular season poll.
