LAST TIME OUT
After being tied with Green Bay (6-3) at the half and leading late in the third quarter, UIC couldn't hold on down the stretch, falling 64-56 at the Kress Events Center in Green Bay, Wis.

Junior forward Makiyah Williams (Chicago, Ill./Trinity/Marquette) and senior guard Danyel Middleton (Chicago, Ill./Bolingbrook/Marquette) each scored a team-high 12 points for the Flames, who battled hard for the full 40 minutes against a Green Bay team that was receiving votes in both major national polls this week. Additionally, junior forward Ky Dempsey-Toney (Franklin, N.J./Franklin) earned her first start of the season, posting season highs in points (seven), field goals made (three), and rebounds (six).

UIC finished with a decisive 41-24 rebounding advantage against the Phoenix and held the hosts to 2-of-18 (.111) from the three-point line. The Flames' bench has yet to be outscored this season and continued that trend by topping Green Bay's reserves, 28-11.

SCOUTING CHICAGO STATE
Chicago State is seeking its first win on Friday, currently sitting at 0-16. Despite being winless, the Cougars have faced tough opponents, including several NET Top 100 teams such as Notre Dame (L, 113-35) and Minnesota (L, 100-42). CSU has also competed against three Missouri Valley Conference teams, falling to Evansville (L, 103-102 – 3 OT), Illinois State (L, 102-47), and Valparaiso (L, 83-64).

In their last game on Dec. 11, the Cougars suffered a 111-67 loss to Georgia Southern. Senior guard Tae'lor Willard led three CSU players in double figures with 18 points, while junior forward Taylor Norris added 15 points and senior guard Jacia Cunningham contributed 11 points. Cunningham is the team's leading scorer, averaging 13.3 points per game, while sophomore center Josie Hill is their top rebounder with 5.9 rebounds per game.

SERIES HISTORY
The all-time series record between UIC and Chicago State stands at 22-5 in favor of the Flames, with UIC having won the last eight games against the Cougars. The two teams first met during the 1972-73 season, resulting in a 41-26 win for the Flames. Fast forward to their most recent encounter last November, when UIC secured an 87-62 victory at Chicago State. In that game, senior forward Jaida McCloud (Peoria, Ill./Richwoods) nearly notched a double-double, scoring 18 points and grabbing nine boards, while Middleton dropped in 11 points to support the victory.
