Women’s Basketball Finishes Road Trip against Bradley Saturday Afternoon

Saturday is UIC’s last road contest of the regular season.

PEORIA, ILL. —  The UIC women's basketball (15-13, 7-10 MVC) is set to conclude its two-week road trip Saturday afternoon against Bradley (3-25, 0-17 MVC). Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m. and will be available to stream on ESPN3. 

MATCH-UP BREAKDOWN
  • This will be the 25th match-up between both programs and the second time they have met on the hardwood this season.
  • On Jan. 27 at Credit Union 1 Arena, UIC defeated Bradley, 59-38. The Flames were led offensively by Jaida McCloud, who scored 20 points and grabbed eight rebounds. Sara Zabrecky and Ky Dempsey-Toney each netted eight points and had five rebounds apiece.
  • The Braves lead the overall series, 16-8. This will be the first time UIC has played at the Renaissance Coliseum since Dec. 2, 2017.
  • Bradley's Isis Fitch is not scared to battle on the boards  She is tied ninth in rebounding in the Missouri Valley Conference, averaging 6.8 rebounds.
RUMBLIN' WITH THE REDBIRDS
  • UIC came up short Thursday night in their bout against Illinois State (20-7, 14-4 MVC) at the CEFCU Arena, 66-55.
  • Jaida McCloud led the Flames offensively with 23 points and seven rebounds. Josie Filer scored nine points and grabbed seven boards. Ky Dempsey-Toney also netted nine points.
  • Keeping the game around two-possession lead, the Redbirds outscored the Flames 21-13 to secure the win.
CONFERENCE STANDINGS
  • Going into Saturday, the Flames are currently tied for sixth place in the Missouri Valley Conference standings with Southern Illinois (10-16, 7-10 MVC).
  • Murray State (13-13, 6-11 MVC) and Evansville (11-15, 6-11 MVC) are one game behind with three regular season games remaining.
  • The Salukis and the Aces are set to play tomorrow at 2 p.m.
FILER'S FIREPOWER
  • Josie Filer is currently 23 points away from reaching 1,000 career points in her collegiate career.
  • The graduate transfer is the second-leading scorer for the Flames, averaging 12.1 PPG. She also leads the team in rebounding with 6.8 RPG.
  • Filer also leads the team in double doubles, with four this season.
On MCCLOUD NINE
  • Jaida McCloud is 26 points away from 1,000 career points in her collegiate career. She currently leads the team in scoring, averaging 12.2 PPG.
  • Since the game against Bradley on Jan. 29, McCloud has hit her offensive stride, scoring in double figures in nine consecutive games.
