Baseball Drops Series Finale at Lipscomb Sunday

Flames Return to Tennessee Next Week to Face UT Martin

NASHVILLE, TENN. – The UIC baseball team closed out its three-game series against Lipscomb Sunday, falling to the Bison 7-4 in the rubber match of the series.
  • The Bison got off to a hot start Sunday, scoring the game's first runs for the first time in the series. A Chaz Bertolani three-run home run with two outs in the bottom of the first put Lipscomb up 3-0 early.
  • The home run would chase Flames starter Aiden Pavoris after just two-thirds of an inning, the second time in as many days a UIC starter threw an inning or less in their appearance.
  • AJ Henkle added on to his team-leading five RBI in the top of the fourth inning, as a single up the middle brought home Carson Roberts to narrow the deficit to two.
  • Clay Conn would tie the game in the fifth inning with his first home run of the season, a two-run shot to right field to bring home Zane Zielinski.
  • In the seventh, Breck Nowik scored off a Lipscomb failed pickoff attempt and ensuing throwing error to cut the Flames' deficit to one. Lipscomb tacked on two more in the bottom half of the inning to secure the win.
  • Six Flames pitched in Sunday's contest. Rigel Verciglio struck out five batters over 2.1 innings of work
The Flames are back in Tennessee Wednesday evening when they take on UT Martin. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. CT.
