Softball Falls to #12 Tennessee to conclude USF Invitational Sunday Afternoon

TAMPA BAY, FLA. -- The UIC softball team (0-13) came up short against #12 Tennessee (12-1) to finish up its time at the USF Invitational Sunday, losing to the Volunteers 5-0.
  • The Flames first hit came in the fourth inning when junior Emma Crowley singled up the middle.
  • Senior Carlee Jo Clark got her second hit of the tournament with a single out to left field to begin the sixth inning. Going one-for-three in the game, Clark now is batting .238 on the season.
  • After two relief appearances, junior Miranda Gomez started in the circle for UIC. She struck out one and walked one in her only inning of work.
  • Clark finished the game in the circle for the Flames, pitching five innings, striking three out and walking six.
UIC is set to travel next weekend to Norman, Oklahoma to compete in the OU Tournament. The Flames will take on both #18 Kentucky (10-3-1) and #2 Oklahoma (13-1), the reigning national champion, twice over three days. UIC begins the tournament squaring off against the Wildcats Friday at 3 p.m.
