DES MOINES, Iowa – The UIC women's tennis team (6-6) is set to play their first Missouri Valley Conference matches after becoming a member last year. The Flames will take a trip to Iowa this weekend to play two matches.
The first stop is Drake on Saturday. The Bulldogs hold a 7-6 record on the season, losing only one game at home. The two squads have met three times before in non-conference matches, the most recent in 2010. The Flames are 1-2 all-time against Drake.
On Sunday, UIC takes on Northern Iowa (4-8-1). The Flames match up well against the Panthers, as the record is 4-1 overall. The last time the two teams played was in 2016.
The Flames go into the weekend off a win against Oakland. UIC cruised past singles, winning all but one of their matches.
First serve against Drake is set for 11:00 a.m. at the Roger Knapp Tennis Center on Saturday. The next morning at 10 a.m., the Flames match up against UNI at the Black Hawk Tennis Center.
